As we age, our face loses naturally loses volume and our skin stretches, making fine lines and wrinkles more prominent. Unlike Botox®, which works by relaxing facial tissue, dermal fillers help diminish facial lines by restoring volume and fullness.

Dermal injections are performed in-office, with little no downtime. To minimize discomfort, local anesthetic may be used. Optimum results are achieved after two to four sessions, depending on your aging pattern and degree of volume-loss.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA)
Hyaluronic acid is the most popular type of dermal filler. It is a naturally occurring sugar found in the body that helps hydrate and add volume to skin. The role of HA in the body is to deliver nutrients, hydrate skin by holding water and to act as a cushioning agent. HA has also been used to aid movement in arthritic joints and in wound repair.

Hyaluronic acid typically lasts longer than collagen and provides a longer correction. Common brands of HA fillers include Juvéderm® and Restylane®.

Sculptra® Aesthetic
Sculptra Aesthetic is an injectable filler made of poly-L-lactic acid—a natural substance released in muscles during exercise. Sculptra differs from other fillers because it works with your body to replenish the natural production of collagen in your face.

Sculptra can be used to replace the deep fat and bone loss in the face. It can also be used on the surface to treat stubborn wrinkles and folds. Results vary, but typically last up to two years.

In skilled hands and with proper after-care, side effects of dermal fillers are minimal. For more information, make an appointment to meet with one of our physicians: 314-996-3880.
